The story begins as the warrior Arjuna makes his way to the battlefield with his cousin and close friend, the warrior Krishna, along with his family. The three set out for the war, despite Arjuna knowing that his brother, the king of Ayodhya, has also travelled there to fight. After Arjuna arrives in the battlefield, he comes across Duryodhana, his friend and antagonist, and Krishna. The three fight each other for six days and Arjuna wins the battle. Krishna, wanting the Pandavas to not be harmed, shields them from the violence. Arjuna, furious that Krishna intervened, is forced to accept the duel to the death between Duryodhana and himself. Meanwhile, Duryodhana's wife, who was also his lover, poisons her husband with a poisoned drink in their palace. As Duryodhana lies in a stupor, he is brought before Bhishma, who lets Duryodhana know of his fate if he does not confess his sins. Duryodhana tells Bhishma of his sin of taking away his charioteer. Duryodhana also confesses of his sin of the war and how he caused the death of thousands of people. Bhishma promises to forgive Duryodhana if he renounces his sinful ways. As Duryodhana falls unconscious, the five Kaurava brothers, including Bhima, arrive. They demand that the Pandavas give them one-fourth of the kingdom's land and wealth as ransom, and the Pandavas agree. Duryodhana is immediately sent to the capital in a wooden cage, which brings to light the atrocities carried out by the Kauravas against the Pandavas. The next day, the Kauravas torture the Pandavas with the intention of extracting the Pandavas' secret weapon, the Pandava chariot. The Pandavas are guarded by Krishna. The Pandavas, having been exposed to the Kauravas, are now angry and refuse to fight, as they realise that they will be doomed to death without their chariot. Bhima is outraged by this revelation and resolves to kill Krishna. Meanwhile, after having questioned his son, the King of Ayodhya, and knowing that Krishna is the Pandava's secret weapon, Bhima realises that Krishna's death will cause Arjuna to be defeated. In
